A fine quality ormolu cased Cartel clock by highly regarded maker Baillon of Paris c.1770. The lozenge shaped ormolu case in the Rococo style with cherub sat in the pediment, immaculate unworn original finish throughout. Convex porcelain enamel dial bearing the makers name Baillon, Paris (Jean Baptiste Baillon, Paris 1727 - 1772), sat behind a matching convex glass set in a hinged opening door. The fine quality bell striking movement striking on the hours and half hour, 8 day duration with anchor escapement. Presented in superb original condition, fully overhauled and working. Measures 25" high x 14" wide x 7" deep at the pediment x 6" dial diameter.  Stock number CS178.
