Description

A fine quality George III period figured oak and mahogany cross banded 8 day longcase clock with engraved brass and silvered dial by Young of Nantwich, fully overhauled and working c.1770. Moulded cornice to the hood with original lacquered glass decorative freeze below. Crossbanded hood door with turned pillars sat either side, shaped top long trunk door with crossbanded edge; quarter columns sat either side. The base with figured timbers, crossbanding and moulded plinth, small ogee bracket feet below. Engraved brass and silvered dial with date aperture and subsidiary seconds dial; 8 day movement with anchor escapement and bell striking on the hour. Small proportion and presented in excellent condition with a deep shine, the movement fully overhauled and working.
