Rare Early Victorian Silver Apple Corer and Case

Description

An immaculate and difficult to find early Victorian solid silver portable apple corer and case, hallmarked Birmingham 1842. Slightly tapering octagonal handle with rope twist engine turned finish to aid opening at the top end, the cover unscrewing to allow the removal of the internally stored coring blade. The blade screws into the handle to form a full sized knife for coring apples. Sat in the original leather cloth covered tubular case.  Bears the makers mark for Birmingham silversmith Joseph Willmore along with clear hallmarks to both sections. Presented in immaculate unused condition.  Measures 6" long x 0.75" diameter open and 3.75" long closed. Stock number 40294.
