A quality 9' hand knotted Persian pure wool runner from the North West Heriz area of Persia with unusual dark brown background, newly cleaned ready for use c.1920. Very dark brown close hand knotted pile with medallion to the centre flanked by smaller medallions, which are set amongst an interlocking geometric floral design in tones of cream, copper red, pink and teal blue. Narrow border to the edge with a dark red background and complementing geometric decoration.
