A large superb quality Victorian solid silver toast rack with fretwork base, weighing 11 troy oz, hallmarked Sheffield 1868. Scalloped edge platform to the base with beaded edge and fine quality fretwork decoration; splayed feet with matching beaded decoration set to the corners. Seven broad bands of arched silver sat above forming six generous divisions to hold the toast. Cast loop design handle to the centre with beaded decoration to match the base and central pillar running from the handle to a base stretcher. Bears the makers mark for highly regarded Sheffield silversmiths Henry Wilkinson along with clear hallmarks to all sections. Beautifully made and weighing 11 troy oz and presented in immaculate condition. Measures 7.5" long x 4.75" deep x 6.5" high. Stock number 42788.
