Description

A collectable adzed oak back stool with burr seat by Norfolk maker Jack Grimble c.1950. Hand cut adzed burr oak seat with long slender adzed back rest to the rear; Tudor rose carved to the top front. Sat on three hand cut tapering legs with chamfered edges and inverted tops below the seat. Superb colour and original patina, signed to the underside of the seat. Jack Grimble of Cromer fashioned his furniture after studying medieval English furniture construction, techniques and timbers. He is often compared to Robert Thompson and other Yorkshire makers.  He worked on the Sandringham Estate and his work includes commissions for the Royal Family. Measures 12.5" seat diameter x 38" high to top of chair back x 12.5" seat height. Stock number 41364.
