A fine quality early Victorian mahogany framed library chair in the manner of Gillows with Abraham Moon pure wool fabric upholstery c.1860. The substantial frame with railed back and arms formed in the style of bamboo, turned front legs, with splayed legs to the rear, sat on original brass castors. The seat and arm pads upholstered in grey and dark red fine check Abraham Moon pure wool fabric, matching loose buttoned back back cushion. A high quality and very stylish chair typical of the type made by Gillows, Lancaster. Presented in excellent condition with sturdy frame, very comfortable and useable. Measures 26.5" wide x 40" high to top of the back x 29" deep x 16" seat height. Stock number CS127.
