Victorian Walnut Letter Casket
A fine quality mid Victorian burr walnut dome top letter casket with decorative brass bindings and hand painted floral porcelain panels c.1875. Burr veneers to all sides, lid front and rear decorated with fretted and engraved brass bindings mounted with brass dome head fixings. The centre or the lid and either side of the lock escutcheon set with small superbly hand painted circular floral porcelain panels. The lid opening to reveal an original fitted interior with divisions for paper, envelopes and stationary; original blue silk lining to the lid. Bears the retailers name T. A. Simpson & Co L...ondon to the interior. Presented in superb original condition with a deep shine and original patina. Measures 8.75" long x 4.5" deep x 6.5" high. Stock number 38084.
