A fine quality Victorian turned and carved oak cased aneroid barometer with engraved silvered scale and crescent thermometer c.1885. Turn golden oak case with carved geometric petal design decoration. Engraved silvered dial with weather predictions and geometric decoration to the centre; crescent thermometer set to the base and aneroid movement sat behind. Quarter plate bevelled edge with central reading marker sat over the top mounted in a polished brass bezel. Bears the makers name for London barometer makers Newton & Co, Fleet St - barometer makers to Queen Victoria. Fredrick Ne...wton is recorded as making barometers from 1858 to 1900. Presented in superb original condition with a deep shine, fully serviced and working. Measures 8.25" diameter overall with a 5" dial x 2.75" deep. Stock number 41219.
