An unusual Victorian solid silver pocket or table top vinaigrette with engine turned finish, hallmarked Birmingham 1890. Engine turned finish to both sides with plain polished panel to the centre of the face side. Dished sides with the outer edges of the surfaces forming a rim to aid opening. Opens to reveal a gilded interior with hinged fretwork floral design cover to place the scented sponge behind. Bears the makers mark for Birmingham silversmith Edward Smith. Presented in immaculate condition with a deep shine. Measures 1.75" wide x 1.25" deep x 0.5" deep. Stock number 38097.
