A superb Victorian oil on board of the Crook O`Lune, made famous by artist Turner, and poets Thomas Gray and William Wordsworth. Superbly and accurately painted this scene has little changed today. Painted from the east side bank of the Lune looking across to Samuel Greg`s Low Mill, with Ingleborough in the distance. Painted by well regarded and listed artist John Cruise ( fl.1827 - Dublin Society School) Signed and dated 1857. Sat in original plaster gilt frame with oval gilt mask. Good original condition. Frame measures 21" wide. x 17" high. Painting measures 14.5". x 11" ( max )
