An impressive Victorian carved oak banjo barometer with unusually large 10" dial by Richardson of Darlington c.1890. Superbly carved oak case with crest to the top and base. 10" porcelain dial with weather predictions sat around the outer edge and the makers name Richardson, Darlington. Matching scale to the thermometer box with unusual snail design mercury action thermometer. Presented in superb fully serviced and working condition. An unusually large thermometer by this maker was famously sited at Darlingtons Bank Top Station for many years. Measures 35" long x 12.5" wide x... 10" dial diameter x 3" maximum depth.
