A superb quality Victorian oak Admiral Fitzroy's marine stick barometer by highly regarded maker Negretti & Zambra C.1855. The polished golden oak casework with arched top and slim long trunk, moulded base and cistern cover. Painted scales with Admiral Fitzroy's predictions to the left and pressure scale to the right. Adjustable vernier marker and makers name and address (the maker at the address on the instrument between 1850 - 55 ). Matching scale to the mercury action thermometer in glazed removeable box to the centre of the instrument. Polished brass remote adjuster for the vernier m...arker and plate to the front reading 'This barometer reads correctly to Greenwich standard'. Fully restored movement and presented in immaculate condition with a deep shine and original patina. Measures 44" long x 5.5" wide at widest point x 3" maximum depth. Stock number 36086.
