A superb quality mid Victorian silver mounted claret jug with etched and cut grape vine design decoration, hallmarked London 1874. The deep solid silver mount with embossed and engraved decoration, masks set to each side and a third forming the spout. Hinged lid set above with decorative thumb plate forming an opening handle. Scroll design handle set to the side with fern leaf design fretted decoration set to the inner edge. The crystal vessel cut and etched with a grape vine design decoration. Bears the makers mark for London silversmith Robert Harper, recorded working in Red Lion St Clerkenw...ell between 1859 & 1882. Presented in immaculate condition with a deep shine and a perfect vessel. Measures 10.25" x 5.25 diameter x 7.25" wide including handle. Stock number 37881.
