A superb George III period figured mahogany 8 day Northern of Hull longcase clock with painted moon phases dial C.1800. Fine quality figured mahogany case with pagoda top to the hood and reeded Corinthian mounted columns to the side. Unusual stepped top to the door with oval central panel and crossbanded outer veneers. Matching figured veneered panel to the base with crossbanded fruitwood strung outer edge. Sat on the original splayed foot plinth. Original painted dial with Roman numerals, date aperture and seconds dial. Superbly painted colourful spandrels and sea scene to the arch with moon... phases to the centre. Bears the makers name R Northern, Hull. 8 day duration with anchor escapement and bell striking on the hour. Fully overhauled movement, superb condition with a deep shine and original patina. Measures 89" high x 19" wide x 9" deep. Stock number 34645.
