A fine quality small proportioned Regency period ebonised cased 8 day double fusse bracket clock by Brockbanks & Atkins, London c.1825. The arched top ebonised case with brass strung inlays to the front and moulded foot with matching inlays. Convex painted dial with Roman numerals and makers name to the centre. Sat behind a marching convex glass set in a hinged opening cast brass bezel, key release catch set to the right hand side. Brass 'fish scale' sound frets to each side with silk set behind, flower basket handles with original water gilt finish above. Glazed hinged opening door to the rea...r, opens to access the movement. The double fusse 8 day duration movement with original anchor escapement, striking on a bell on the hour. The backplate engraved with the makers name behind the bell, striking on the hour. John Brockbanks & Samuel Atkins were recorded working in partnership between 1815 & 1840 in Cowpers Court London and were noted marine chronometer makers, the sons carried on the business until 1918. This example presented in superb condition, the movement fully overhauled and working. Measures 14" high x 9.5" wide x 6.25" deep. Stock number 37099.
