a large original oil on board by Yorkshire born artist Donald McIntyre RCA `Boats On The Shore` Donald McIntyre born in Leeds in 1923, but spent many years of his childhood in Scotland, he qualified as a dentist but later took up painting as a full time career painting in the `Scottish colourist` tradition. He exhibited extensively in many of the top UK galleries, one of his works hangs in the USA embassy in London and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh was a collector of his works. This unusually large work in oil on board depicts boats on a rocky shore line with a row of white washed cottages in the ...background. The vibrant colour of the painted boats standing out against the stone of the rocks painted with superb impasto making the painting really come alive. Signed by the artist bottom right. Presented in a top quality painted and gilded timber frame with inner mount and glazed with museum glass. Measures including the frame 45" wide x 35" high. Painting ex frame 31.5" wide x 21.5" high.
