A matching pair of quality George III period yew wood low back Windsor chairs in the manner of John & Robert Prior of Uxbridge c.1820. Moulded surface bell shaped seats with bent wood back, three fretted splats with turned roundels to each, spindles set between. Moulded arms with shaped support to the front and splat to match the back. Sat on turned legs supported by a crinoline stretcher. Robert & John Prior were highly regarded makers of quality chairs, these chairs typical of them with the moulded bell shaped seats and the unusual back splats with turned roundels. Presented in ex...cellent original condition with a mellow colour and polish. Each measures 22" wide x 35" high to top of the back x 22" deep x 17 seat height. Stock number CS249.
