A superb large early Victorian solid silver vinaigrette with engraved decoration, hallmarked Birmingham 1855. Oblong form with wavy edges, both sides engraved to a high standard with scroll work decoration. The sides recessed to aid opening. The hinged top opening to reveal a gilt lined interior with fine quality fretted and engraved cover to hold the scented sponge behind. Bears the makers mark for Birmingham silversmith David Pettifer. Presented in immaculate unused condition with a deep shine. Measures 1.75" wide x 1.5" deep x 0.35" high. Stock number 38616.
