A rare and early Georgian walnut and elm comb back Windsor chair C.1790. The moulded elm seat sat on simple hand turned legs with pegged tops showing through to the seat. The comb back with fretwork centre splat supported by a flat shaped arm with the tops of the rails showing through the surface in typical primitive style. Shaped moulded top rail supported by the rails and central splat. Typical of Mid Wales primitive chairs and presented in superb condition with a rich colour and good patina. Measures 45" high to top of the back x 29" maximum width x 16" deep. Stock number 36040.
