A superb small proportioned George III period 8 day longcase clock with painted moon phases dial by respected maker William Taylor of Whitehaven C.1780. The fine quality figured mahogany case of small and slim proportions with crossbanded door and base section, reeded quarter columns to the trunk and matching columns to the hood. Swan neck pediment to the top and glazed opening hood door. The original movement with arched moon phase dial and strawberry blossom decoration to the corners. 8 day movement with anchor escapement and bell striking on the hour, seconds dial and date aperture. Ful...ly overhauled movement, the case in excellent condition with good unfaded colour and original patina. William Taylor 1738- 1801. Measures 84" high x 20" wide x 9" deep. Stock number CS01.
