A fine mahogany Georgian stick barometer by Dollond of London with hygrometer and rare full length thermometer c.1800. The slim proportioned case with architectural pediment to the top, moulded edge to the trunk and turned cistern cover to the base. Silvered scale hygrometer to the top with remote adjustment knob set below, matching engraved silvered scale to the barometer with vernier marker sat to the side and mercury action barometer tube to the centre. Very rare full length mercury action thermometer to the trunk with engraved silvered scale and brass guard to the thermom...eter cistern. A fine quality instrument fully serviced and working, presented in superb condition with a deep polish to the case.  Measures 44" long x 5.5" wide at the pediment x 2.75" trunk width x 2" deep. About the maker:  George Dollond (1774 - 1852) was an optician, inventor and instrument maker. He invented an “atmospheric recorder”, which recorded continuous measurements of temperature, wind, rainfall, humidity, pressure and other weather data onto rolls of paper. He was also one of the founding Fellows of the Royal Astronomical Society.
