A very original George III period oak longcase clock by sought after maker Jonas Barber of Winster. Numbered 604, c.1762. The slim proportioned case with original architecture pediment to the hood sat over a moulded cornice. Slim pillars in typical Barber style to either side of the hood door. Slim trunk with long door and shaped top. Original base and foot. Original movement with engraved brass dial, and matted centre. Scroll design engravings typical of the maker and panel applied bearing the name of the original owners J & H Tyson. Dated 1762, date aperture below. Latched thirty hour moveme...nt with count wheel striking on the hour. The front plate numbered 604. Very original and presented in superb fully restored condition with excellent colour and polish throughout. This clock is listed in the Barber book by Brown Cave Brown, and comes with full history having being owned by one family for most of its life. Measures 77" high x 16" maximum width x 9" maximum depth x 12" wide at the trunk. Stock number IE01
