A George II oak longcase clock by John Livesey of Bolton with superb engraved 'Penny Moon' phases dial and 8 day movement, fully restored and working c.1745. The quality figured oak case with quarter sawn crossbanding throughout, broad cornice to the hood with carved freeze below. Slender columns sat either side of the glazed hood door with original glass. Long slender trunk with shaped top to the door, original lock escutcheon and working lock with key. Moulded waist below and moulded edge to the base with bracket feet below. Fine quality brass dial to the 8 day movemen...t with decorative engraved centre 'Penny Moon' lunar calendar to the top and calendar to the bottom half. Engraved silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals, cast spandrels to the corners. The movement with bell striking on the hour and anchor escapement.
