George I Silver Taper Stick

A fine quality and very early seamed silver taper stick, hallmarked London 1716. The decorative engraved cast and seemed heavy quality solid silver stem with floral foliage decoration, small candle holder at the top to hold the wax taper. The square cast base with dished centre and clipped corners, matching decoration to the stem. Bears the hallmarks to the underside for London 1716, and unclear makers mark; possibly John & William Cafe. A rare and very early item presented in superb condition with no damage or repairs. Measures 4.75" high x 2.75" square at the base. Stock number 36474.
