A fine Victorian oil on canvas by Alfred Augustus Glendening Snr (1840-1910) 'North Wales' c.1890. Glendening was born in London and quickly became one of the most sought after artists of his time, he painted mainly in Surrey, Sussex and the home counties as well as some works of Scotland and Wales. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and British Institute amongst others. This scene of The Glaslyn in North Wales is typical of his style with rolling hills and calm pastures. Excellent warm colours and detail. Signed by the artist to the bottom left. Presented in excellent condition. Measures 31"... wide x 21" high x 2.5" deep. Stock number CS34.
