A fine quality George III period mahogany cased 8 day bracket clock with brass and silvered dial and verge escapement C.1785. Bell top case with hinged brass carry handle and brass finial to the four corners. Arched top view window to the door with beaded brass mount and brass fretwork decoration to the top corners. Glazed windows to the sides, and hinged glazed door to the rear. Sat on the original brass bracket feet. Superb colour and polish to the case. The 8 day double fusee movement with original verge escapement, bell striking on the hour and half hour. Engraved back plate bearing the ma...kers name. The fine quality brass and silvered dial with strike silent to the arch and calendar to the centre. Bears the makers name, Robert Wood, successor to Mr John Taylor. Robert Wood, is recorded as making clocks at Horse Shoe Alley, Moorfields, London 1785 - 1810. Superb quality and condition with a deep shine, fully overhauled movement.
