A Fine George III period oak and fruitwood inlaid 8 Day longcase clock.c.1790. Brass engraved dial with date aperture and seconds count. Strikes on a bell to the hour. Made by highly regarded maker, William Onions of Broseley, Shropshire. Herringbone inlay to the moulded cornice hood, repeated to the case door. Superb colour and patina. Very small proportions for an 8 Day longcase clock, stands 75"high. *William Onions, family of clock makers in Broseley. The Onions family owned an iron foundry in Broseley and are listed as distinguished figures in the iron trade of the 18th and 19th Century.
